Healthy Kids School Canteen Association

What is the Product Registration Scheme?

Healthy Kids SCA Product Registration Scheme was developed in response to the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy, Fresh Tastes @ School. The Scheme produces an annual listing of colour coded green and amber Registered Products in The School Canteen Buyers Guide.  It is a highly regarded and trusted program assisting schools across Australia make healthy choices, easy choices.

Food products are assessed against the Healthy Kids Nutrient Criteria developed by Health Professionals in conjunction with Food Industry. Meeting these nutrient criteria is the first step towards successful product registration.  Products that meet the nutrient criteria although fail to pass registration are those considered to be of poor nutritional quality, or contain nutrients that are better provided by another source that is intrinsically nutrient dense. All Registered Products are colour coded as either Green “fill the menu” or Amber “ select carefully” foods depending on their nutrient criteria.

Food Industry should contact the Healthy Kids Team to obtain specific criteria for product development. Contact info@healthy-kids.com.au for more details on how to get a copy of the relevant nutrient criteria for registration purposes.

Lunch Crates

I am looking at replacing our lunch crates. We currently use 28litre plastic 'toy' boxes, but these have a very short life, splitting and breaking very easily.
