Healthy Kids Registered Products
With the support of a dedicated Food Industry Team, over 900 Healthy Kids Products are currently registered. Using a colour coded system, registered products can gain either a Green or Amber rating depending on the nutrient quality and appropriateness of the product for kids. Green products are recommended as “fill the menu” foods while Amber products as “select carefully” foods.
All registered Healthy Kids Products are published in the Healthy Kids School Canteen Buyers Guide which is mailed out biannually and available online to schools across Australia. The Buyers Guide provides a comprehensive list of colour coded Registered Products and company contact details for product orders.
The Healthy Kids Registered Product Logo is a well-recognised symbol which identifies that a product has met the Healthy Kids SCA Nutrient Criteria and is an actively Registered Product. The logo can be used on promotional literature (brochures, point-of-sale, advertisements etc), subject to a signed licence agreement. At this stage the logo is not permitted to be used on product packaging. Products promoted through association with the Healthy Kids Registered Product Logo are the approved better choices for school canteens.

All registered products for sale in school canteens must comply with FSANZ food labelling requirements and display a clear and accurate Nutrition Information Panel (NIP). A requirement of registration is that a sample of the final product and label showing the NIP be supplied at the time of sample submission and payment of the assessment fee. The labelling is assessed as part of the registration process.
For more information on labelling requirements see the FSANZ website at www.foodstandards.gov.au and follow the links to the Code.
