Health Promoting School Community
What is a Health Promoting School?
A Health Promoting School is one that takes a “whole of school approach” to creating a supportive environment within the school that promotes the health and well being of all members of the school community including the students, Teachers, parents and community members. It values the contribution that parents and other school community members (including school canteen staff) can make to the health of the school community.
A Health Promoting School encompasses what is taught in the classroom, the way that the school is organised, the ‘feel’ of the school, the school environment, how the school relates to outside organisations and the services that it provides to its students, Teachers and parents.
