Elected Directors

June Coyte is a new nomination to the Board and resides in the central west of NSW. She currently administers her family operated business and has regularly volunteered at her school and in the canteen for 6 years as well as for P&C and Playgroup associations. Being in a rural setting presents its own challenges for canteens and Healthy Kids member schools and June had a hand in helping bring the Healthy Kids Association to the central west that in turn sparked the local canteen network. She has transformed the Millthorpe Public School canteen over the last 12 months and continues to work with current volunteers to endorse the Healthy Kids Association's standards and objectives.

Margo Johnston is a Health Promotion Officer with the North Coast Area Health Service. Margo has long worked with North Coast school canteens supporting healthy, nutritious food choices. Margo also has school-aged children and four years practical experience working as a canteen volunteer and P&C Secretary at her local public school. Margo recently surveyed a proportion of rural and regional school canteen coordinators to identify their current professional development needs. This led to her development of three North Coast Healthy School Canteen Professional Development forums. Margo believes that her health promotion experience and ongoing passion for supporting rural and regional healthy school canteens makes her an ideal advocate and candidate for Board membership.

Jodie Peace is a Community Dietitian (and Accredited Practicing Dietitian) and mother working within the Tamworth Child, Youth and Family Health Team. Her work is focused on Childhood Health and Nutrition, where she has developed programs targeting childhood obesity for families within the rural context. Jodie has been a member of the Hunter New England Healthy Canteen Taskforce for 4 years supporting NSW Healthy Kids strategies and developing canteen support resources. She additionally assists schools with the NSW Fresh Tastes@School Healthy School Canteen Advisory Committee when the Strategy was being developed and implemented. Christine would like to serve a final term on the Board to provide continuity in representing the interests of all school canteens but especially rural schools.

She is involved with her children's school, both as a canteen volunteer and in providing parents with nutrition advice. As Managing Director of a major nutrition consultancy, Mia is committed to supporting and improving childhood and adolescent health and nutrition. She has worked with several food manufacturers to ensure that wherever possible their products meet the Association's green criteria and been able to provide comment during the development of the criteria.
