Certification
Certification embeds Crunch&Sip® into school policy and ensures Crunch&Sip® endures through staff changes.
Schools can apply to become “Certified” Crunch&Sip® Schools by meeting the following criteria:
- Crunch&Sip® is formalised in a policy – either stand alone or as part of another policy (such as a nutrition or student welfare policy)
- At least 80% of classes in the school having a daily Crunch&Sip® break
- At least 70% of students participating in Crunch&Sip®
- Parents have been notified of the Crunch&Sip® program
- Complete a Certification Form and return to Healthy Kids
School Policy
Formalising Crunch&Sip® into school policy is a way of ensuring ongoing commitment and support. To become Certified, your school needs to develop and implement a Crunch&Sip® policy, or include Crunch&Sip® in another existing policy, such as a School Nutrition Policy, a Student Welfare Policy or a PDHPE Policy.
The process of developing the policy is as important as the policy itself, and school community consultation is a great way to publicise Crunch&Sip®. You are also more likely to be successful in implementing your policy if everyone involved has participated in the policy development and agree and understand it’s intent.
