School Canteen President/Chairperson’s Roles

Their role:
The canteen president's role is to preside at committee meetings in a fair, democratic and unbiased manner and to oversee the operations of the canteen.
Responsibilities checklist:
1. Maintain canteen committee rules and policies.
2. Ensure that meetings are properly convened according to the canteen committee rules.
3. Ensure that proper meeting procedures are adhered to.
4. Act impartially in the best interest of the members of the committee.
5. Liaise with school principal, sponsoring body and parent body president, school community, paid staff and volunteers on matters relating to the canteen.
6. Be ever mindful of paid staff's ‘Statement of Duties’ and ‘Work Agreement’.
7. Report to the canteen committee on matters of importance.
8. Present a written report to the sponsoring body on request.
