Crunch&SipĀ® for Health Professionals

Health professionals play a major role in promoting Crunch&Sip® to schools and then supporting schools to implement the program.

Health professionals can assist schools in their area by:

  • Promoting Crunch&Sip® via newsletters, mailouts and existing school communication networks
  • Distributing the Crunch&Sip® brochure to schools
  • Presenting Crunch&Sip® to principals and teachers using the
  • Crunch&Sip® presentation and presenter’s notes
  • Assisting schools to write their Crunch&Sip® policy
  • Including Crunch&Sip® in healthy eating messages to schools

Health professionals working with schools can contact Healthy Kids SCA on info@healthy-kids.com.au to purchase resources.

Discussions with Schools

Health professionals can learn a lot about how they can help schools to implement Crunch&Sip® by having discussions with Principals, Assistant Principals and Teachers.

The following questions can be discussed with schools to gather important insight into the school’s views on Crunch&Sip®:

  • What problems or barriers are there in implementing Crunch&Sip® in your school?
  • What benefits can you see in participating in Crunch&Sip®?
  • What assistance would you like in beginning Crunch&Sip®?

Recognising Outstanding Schools

If you have a school in your area that is doing an excellent job of making Crunch&Sip® work, please let Healthy Kids SCA know.  We are always on the lookout for schools to use as case studies for our Member’s Magazine, Crunch&Sip® News newsletter and other publications.

Please let us know if there is a school that has innovative or novel methods of:

  • Implementing Crunch&Sip®
  • Linking with other school activities, such as a vegetable garden or curriculum
    Promoting fruit, vegetables and water
  • Overcoming difficulties, such as providing fruit or vegetables to students who don’t bring a Crunch&Sip® snack
  • Linking with local retailers, wholesalers or growers

Lunch Crates

I am looking at replacing our lunch crates. We currently use 28litre plastic 'toy' boxes, but these have a very short life, splitting and breaking very easily.
